The WACE Awards and WACE Research Grant Recipients will be awarded at the 23rd WACE World Conference in Waterloo, Canada.

WACE Awards

WACE is delighted to present three awards open for nomination this year.

WACE Outstanding Professional Contribution Award

In recognition of outstanding and significant contributions to cooperative and work-integrated education (CWIE).


The recipient will have:

  • made a significant contribution to the advancement of CWIE, nationally and internationally
  • evidence of active involvement in related associations or internationally

    WACE Leadership and Innovation Award

    In recognition of a significant and sustained contribution to executive leadership during which innovative strides were undertaken to produce transformational results.


    The recipient will have:

      • been innovative in the leadership of CWIE within an academic institution
      • significant and sustained strategic contributions to advancing research and/or practice of CWIE
      • been regarded as an effective leader and advocate for CWIE within the institution and within the global community.

        WACE Employer/Partner Contribution Award

        In recognition of outstanding and sustained contributions as an employer or partner organisation to the practice of CWIE.


        Significant contribution to international CWIE will be given priority in the selection of the recipient for this award. The recipient will have:
            • been innovative in implementing and managing CWIE within their organisation
            • been active in promoting the concept of CWIE in their region,  country, and/or internationally.

            WACE Research Grant 2022

            VALUE: CAD$15,000 

            WACE seeks to promote research activity that will advance and strengthen the understanding of cooperative and work-integrated education (CWIE) in post-secondary/tertiary education across the globe. The results should have educational implications for CWIE programs across geographic regions and/or more than one institution.

            A research grant will be awarded to a researcher/ research team for a single research project. The project must be completed, and the report submitted, by 31st July, 2024

            The funds will only be sent to the institutional research office or finance office of the Principal Investigator listed on the application form. No funds will be released to an individual researcher’s bank account.

            1. The Principal Investigator must be affiliated with a post-secondary/tertiary institution and be a member of WACE through one of the membership categories listed on the website.

            2. The proposed project must not be funded by other granting agencies but can be tangential to - or stem from - the findings of a previously funded research project.

            3. WACE Executive Council members, IRC Chair, and the Chair of the Grants Committee are not eligible to apply for this grant.
