SCHOLARSHIP OF WIL

IJWIL logo

New Issue released

The International Journal of Work-Integrated Learning (IJWIL) publishes peer-reviewed original research and topical issues dealing with Work-Integrated Learning (WIL)and is a great resource on work-integrated learning.

IJWIL Special Issue: Responding to COVID-19, Innovative Practices of WIL

COVID-19 is having an enormous impact on society and the world economy, which may take years to recover. This impact has already filtered through to the practice of WIL with cancellation of WIL opportunities, limited scope for future WIL opportunities, workplace operations limited by required social distancing and remote access, national economies with rapidly increasing unemployment rates, and workplaces struggling financially.

IJWIL is responding to the impact of COVID-19 by running a Special Issue on scholarly discussion of the practices of WIL that have limited to no direct contact with the physical workplace and maximises the limited number of WIL opportunities for WIL students. There already has been much discussion about the impact of COVID-19 on WIL that has, rightfully, been operationally focused. By running a Special Issue on COVID-19, we can inform this ongoing discussion with scholarly debate and insight.

IJWIL will be seeking papers that discuss, for example, Virtual WIL, Simulated WIL, Remote WIL, Entrepreneurships, and other WIL practices where the physical contact with the physical workplace is limited or perhaps entirely virtually-based. The paper-type can include scholarly discussion and positioning papers, reports on research, and literature-informed case studies with a focus on student learning.

Given the urgency, IJWIL intends to produce the Special Issue in a short time frame. Expressions of interests are due 18th of May, 2020, submissions of accepted papers are due on 3rd of July, 2020, and the intended publication date is beginning of September. For more information, refer to the IJWIL website Special Issues tab.
